Dental Implants

If you have missing or damaged teeth, chances are it’s been a long time since you were confident and proud of your smile. At Pennington Dental, we are happy to help you decide if dental implants are right for you.

Dental implants are the long-lasting, durable, and 100% natural-looking solution for missing teeth. Depending on your situation, implants can replace one tooth or all of your teeth. Unlike dentures or veneers, dental implants look,  like your natural teeth.

Pennington Dental’s team of dentists will provide you with the very best experience for dental implants. From your initial consultation to the final tooth placement, we are committed to helping you feel comfortable and confident with your new permanent teeth.

What Is A Dental Implant

A dental implant is a titanium post that an oral surgeon places directly into the jaw bone. The implant acts as a root that will hold an artificial tooth, called a crown, in place. Dental implants can be the most secure, natural looking  solution for missing teeth. With implants, you can chew, talk, and smile with confidence.

Dental implants are made of medical-quality titanium. After the implant is placed, the titanium implant merges with the rest of your jaw in a similar way a natural root would.

After about three months (can be sooner or later), when the implant is securely attached to the jaw, an artificial tooth is placed on top of the root. The final result is a new tooth that looks totally natural.

What To Expect

Initial Consultation

One of our skilled dentists will sit with you to discuss your needs and decide if dental implants are the right choice for you right for you. We undertake  a full dental examination and may request scan of your mouth using the latest 3D technology to assess your jaws, teeth, gums and other facial structures.

Personalised Treatment Plan

We will create a personalised treatment plan that outlines the schedule for placing your implants and fabricating your crowns. We will provide you with a detailed written plan and a break down of costs. Every step of the way, we will work with you to make sure you feel comfortable and secure with the decisions you make.

Implant Placement Appointment

From the dentist’s perspective, a high level of expertise is necessary to place implants and our implant dentists have been placing them for over 10 years.  A single implant can usually be placed in just a few minutes but the preparation and planning may mean your appointment time is longer. But as the patient, your surgery will only last a short time depending on the number of implants that are to be placed, most patients don’t feel any pain. You’ll probably even be able to return to work the same day.

Tooth Construction and Placement

It takes about three months  for your implant to bond with the jaw bone. After that, we’ll begin the process of creating a custom tooth to put on top of the implant. We’ll take moulds of your mouth and  send the impressions to our dental laboratory. There, an artificial tooth will be made. Making sure the tooth looks totally natural is hard work. We ensure it’s the correct colour, shape, and size so will perfectly  match the rest of your teeth.

The appointment to create your crown will take several short visits. You’ll be able to eat and talk normally on the very same day.

Follow-Up Care

The best thing about dental implants is that they mimic regular teeth. The follow-up care is similar to regular teeth maintenance. You need to brush and floss every day, and schedule regular appointments with our dental hygienist who will help you keep your mouth and gums healthy.
