Our hygiene team will keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy
"Such a friendly surgery, all members off staff are great and very helpful"
At Pennington Dental in Kenilworth and Stratford we want to help you maintain a beautiful, healthy smile for life. To do that, we recommend having regular appointments with one of our dental hygienists. Most patients will benefit from two hygiene appointments per year, but your hygiene team will be able to advise if more frequent visits would be suitable for you.
A clean mouth is less likely to develop tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral problems, which is why we are so passionate about the importance of dental hygiene appointments. Scheduling an appointment with one of our friendly dental hygienists is the best thing you can to keep your mouth clean, healthy, and pain-free.
We tailor your dental hygiene care to your individual needs, and we will explain each and every step to you to ensure you understand your own dental health. We want you to feel comfortable and confident every time you smile.
Plaque and tartar are the number one enemy to a healthy smile, causing tooth decay, gum disease, bad breath, and bleeding gums.
You will remove some plaque every day when you brush your teeth, but even if you brush diligently, some plaque will always be left behind because it is an invisible bacteria that builds up on your teeth and gums. After a while, the plaque turns into tartar, which is a harder substance that only a dentist or dental hygienist can remove.
During your hygienist appointment, your teeth will be cleaned to remove plaque and tartar build-up. This is called a scale and polish, which is a gentle but thorough technique that you will find comfortable and painless. After this, your hygienist will polish your teeth with a special tooth polish to remove superficial stains. Patients love that feeling of super clean teeth after a hygiene appointment.
Dental hygiene appointments are included within our Dental Membership Plan. Patients who join the plans will see the hygiene team regularly and require far less additional dental treatment than those who don’t.
Your gums create the supporting structure for your teeth; a healthy smile cannot exist without healthy gums.
The gums have an important job of forming a seal around the teeth that prevents bacteria from reaching the jawbone below. If plaque is not properly removed and builds up around the gums it can cause inflammation, called gum disease. This can cause the gum to pull away from the teeth creating a gap for more plaque and bacteria to hide in. This is when gum disease becomes periodontal disease, which can lead to bone loss and tooth loss if left untreated.
Gum disease also has proven links with numerous other conditions, including stroke, heart disease and diabetes so it is in the interest of your overall health to keep your gums in top condition!
At Pennington Dental, we believe it is important to invest in the best dental equipment to provide our patients with excellent dental care. This is why we are pleased to offer the Air Flow system. Our hygienists are skilled at utilising this technology to remove stubborn tooth stains. This is highly effective for those who indulge in staining foods and drinks, and for smokers looking to remove stains for that special occasion.
The Airflow system gently and effectively cleans the teeth using a combination of air, water and fine powder particles to clean away surface stains - the results can be pretty impressive!
Airflow appointments are charged at £97, the extended hygiene appointment rate.
Send us your details and we will contact you to arrange a date and time for your appointment
"After searching for quite some time to find a dentist that made our very nervous daughter feel comfortable (or even open her mouth for that matter), a family friend recommended Fuz at Pennington Dental. To say I am grateful is an understatement. Nothing is ever too much and now I have a little girl who jumps into the dentist chair! Absolutely first class!"
