Why you need a dental hygienist
A dental hygienist works alongside your dentist or dental surgeon to help maintain the oral health of your mouth.
You won't always need to see your dentist directly as many problems can be identified quickly and easily by your hygienist and, if necessary, referred onto your dentist for treatment.
Very few of us are able to maintain our teeth in perfect condition. It doesn't matter how diligent you are with your brushing, flossing and cleaning techniques, there are always areas that are very difficult to reach effectively. Your hygienist has the tools at their disposal to be able to remove all the plaque and detritis from those hard-to-reach areas such as between the back teeth and below the gumline.
There's nothing quite like the feeling of a really clean set of teeth; it can brighten your day as well as your smile. Regular visits to your hygienist can reduce or even eliminate the need for dental treatment from your dentist, will improve your overall oral health, and of course leave you feeling great!
