Why Floss?
Flossing is an important part of oral hygeine that's often overlooked and not practiced regularly by patients. Flossing should be done before you brush your teeth in order to remove hard to reach food particles that toothbrushes aren't able to reach. Just like brushing, flossing helps reduce the number of bacteria found in the mouth, which produce acid that eats into tooth enamel, creating cavities. These bacteria can also cause gingivitis, periodontal disease, not to mention stinky breath!
How to Floss Correctly
Before brushing your teeth, measure about an arm's length of floss and wrap it around your fingers, creating a line of floss long enough to cover your entire mouth. Glide the floss gently in between each tooth in a sawing motion and steer the floss up close both angles around your teeth. Make sure not to skip any teeth, even the hard to reach ones in the back. Finish your dental care routine with a good brush and a rinse of mouthwash!
