Looking After Your Teeth
Our dentist often advices us to maintain our oral hygiene and we all know it's something we should do, but do you know why? The staff here at Pennington Dental wants to help you understand where all of those recommendations are coming from and give you advice on simple techniques you can use to improve your oral hygiene.
Brushing your teeth at least twice a day with a good fluoride toothpaste removes plaque, which contains the bacteria that attacks your teeth and leads to decay and cavities. Removing this bacteria and limiting the substances that it feeds on (sugar) is a very simple way of ensuring that you keep your teeth for life.
It's also essential to maintain the health of your gums. Use floss or an interdental brush to remove plaque and food particles from in between your teeth and under your gumline, the areas your brush just can't reach.
Finish your dental routine by using mouthwash. This will remove any stray bacteria and help prevent gum disease.
