Dentistry and Building Works
The last few weeks have been an interesting period with the fine balance of Work, Triathlon Training and Prolonged Building Works at Kenilworth, all aspects vying for ones 100% presence both physically and mentally. I am happy to say I am blessed with patients that are absolutely the best and are accommodating of the prolonged building works at Kenilworth.
I am relieved to report that the said building works are nearly complete in Kenilworth, we had to have the floor in reception dug 3 foot deep twice to repair damaged pipework and previous shoddy fixes, apart form the layer of dust that has to be cleaned each time the builders were in they also managed to cut our phone lines and leave us stranded for a few hours without any external lines!
On the plus side the new toilet is looking great and we have managed to remove a number of steps and widen doorways for our wheelchair bound patients. We would never be considered disabled accessible but I feel we have done what we can and more within the constraints of a 16th Century Grade II listed building. The reception area has been opened up with the removal of some stud walls, a new reception desk itself and the entire area re plastered. Everything is now being painted and new commercial carpet throughout the communal areas is planned for late August.
On the Dentistry side of things, new patients are streaming through the door all in search of a dentist who will see them quickly and confidently sort out their ailments. I have noticed on just my diary that patients are asking for our Denplan Essentials membership plans as they are keen to maintain their teeth and our plans enable patients to budget for their routine care on a monthly basis as wel as providing a great level of insurance cover for dental emergencies and trauma too.
We will be investing in new computer equipment once the dust settles including a new faster Server and the Digital xray system will be installed late August early September to enable faster radiographs to be taken and immediate discussion with the patients about their dental health. This will add to our already fantastic large digital xray unit…..yes thats the one that plays classical music to you as it rotates!
I am really pleased with how the team at Pennington in general has pulled together to make the overal disruption to the patients as minimal as possible during the refurb….thanks team! Our IT hardware contractors Impirius based in Leamington Spa and our soon to be telephone contractors MB telecom have been absolutely wonderful at sorting out loads of big and small issues truly at the drop of a hat……Thank you guys you have been delivering consistently above and beyond!
Hopefully the next time I put pen to paper I will have some photos of the finished works……fingers crossed!
